Commit to reviewing this impact goal on a regular basis, especially when making pivotal design decisions.

Impact prompts;

To articulate your impact goal, as a team discuss the following;

 

  • What do we want to be true in 'X' years time as a result of what we’ve delivered?

    • Make this meaningful to the people your product/service is serving

    • Make this specific and measurable, e.g. ‘X% reduction in mental health related absences amongst X user group by 2026’

    • Make it something you either can attribute or contribute to through what you’re delivering

    • Make sure it aligns with your organisational mission and values

    • Make sure it has humanity and meaning beyond organisational/operational/financial gains 

  • Think about this statement as your ‘north star’ - the thing your team will revisit and remind yourselves of ahead of every big decision point

  • Your impact goal should be relatively unchanging
